Mayor’s Office

Welcome to our new Gibson City web site. I hope you enjoy it!

As Mayor, I believe that it is our local government’s duty and responsibility to spend taxpayer’s money wisely, while providing necessary services to citizens in our community. Over the last several years the Council and I have done exactly that. We have cut waste and nonessential expenditures leaving more money for projects that benefit the entire community. Cutting unnecessary expenses also helps us to keep our taxes low, which is very advantageous to our families and businesses. We believe that taxpayers should keep as much of their hard-earned money as possible.

The Council and I have also adopted a “pay as you go” philosophy. This means that we literally save money before we begin larger projects. In other words, we don’t spend it until we have it. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, we don’t borrow as it only transfers debt to future generations. As a result we also save tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars on interest payments. We choose to live within our means.

Our families and our values are the essence of our community and we believe that our strength is in our families and values. After all, they’re what helped to make this country great and those same values work at the local level, too. The City supports and partners with our churches, schools, veterans, other taxing bodies and civic organizations. We work together. Gibson City is a vibrant, dynamic, growing community as a result.

We want businesses and the jobs they provide and we are constantly looking for new ways to improve our local business climate. By listening to the needs of our existing and potential new businesses we have actually increased our employment by taking action based on their needs.

There are many other things to numerous to mention that make Gibson City an attractive place to raise your family, locate your business, work and play. Come to Gibson City, you will be amazed.
